3 Exciting Start-Ups I Discovered at Start-Up Open House This Year
The Start-Up Open House went down on October 29th in Montreal. This awesome event gives you the chance to visit start-ups' offices all over town and even drop your cv if you're looking for a job. Like every year, some places are very well prepared (good job on the amazing welcome Busbud!) and some others just feel very awkward to visit with nobody really caring about newcomers.
With La Gare though, the experience was just great! This coworking space, which is the nicest in town in my opinion, opened up their space to feature an array of start-ups. It became a big networking party and made it very easy to meet all the founders to ask any question. And to top that, it's where I found my top 3 start-ups for 2015!
These guys made an awesome video to explain what they do, so just hit play!
Basically, anything that's using cricket flour excites me (and not necessarily my taste buds) because it will be a reality in the future. I'm looking forward to see how the product is received by dog owners but also if a line will be created for humans.
FoodRoom lets you book an industrial kitchen for your personal food project. I find this service brilliant as it can be complicated to legally cook and bake from home as a business. It's also a great way to meet fellow food entrepreneurs and share tips!
The app is still in the process of being launched but BonApp aims to offer a tool to let students share fruits & vegetables for free instead of letting them go to waste. I like the idea and am very curious to see the end product. I think the general public could be interested in sharing what they have too ;)
