Nespresso really did spoil me this time! I received the brand new VertuoLine machine to try at home with a beautiful collection box featuring each type of espresso and coffee available. I never personally owned a Nespresso but I did use two types of machines: one home model and one enterprise model. Frankly, I wasn't a fan of both machines. I found the process time consuming and back then, no recycling options were proposed so it was a huge waste especially at work! Plus, as you can see from the picture below, I am serious about my coffee and like to buy my beans fresh so I can grind them on demand.
Still, I have always liked the convenience of capsules for when you are in a rush or receiving guests.
The machine is beautifully designed and doesn't take too much counter space. The water tank on the left is much larger then what I saw on previous machines too. I like that they simplified the process as much as possible with only one button to start and continue the brewing on demand.
Placing the capsule is very simple and there is no way to make a mistake and lose the capsule because of a bad perforation which happens all the time with the competition.
I didn't time it but it takes about 30 seconds to get a coffee cup and about 15 seconds for an espresso. There is no pre-warming period so as soon as you press on start, the VertuoLine gets to work.
The end result is amazing. It's a perfect mix between a coffee and a cappuccino minus the milk! If you drink your coffee black like me, the VertuoLine is going to be a real treat for you! It's definitely smoother than your regular cup of joe. I tried all the capsules in two weeks and I really enjoyed both the Stormio and Odacio blends.
If you're looking for your next coffee/espresso machine and really want to use capsules, the VertuoLine is the way to go. The machine is quite impressive and is worth the price if you're serious about it. I think Nespresso did a great job with the recycling system too.
What you don't see on the right is another tank-like container that automatically retrives used capsules. Those capsules are completely dry by the time they end in the container so there is no rush to get them to a collection point.
