Protein Shakes, huh?
I received those high-protein drinks a few weeks ago to sample and hopefully review. Even if there's nothing exciting about protein shakes for foodies, I happen to drink those at least four times a week after each training session that I do. If I don't, I basically want to pass out during the 45min that it takes to get home.
So I have become sort of a protein connaisseur in the past year, especially because I don't want to consume something bad for my health and I care even more as a woman about the actual quantity of protein that I need.
Milk2Go is a new[ish] product on the market brought to you by Saputo. With people being more and more active and caring about health, Saputo felt like it was the perfect timing to launch this milk-based protein shake. Their drink is the first protein shake made with fresh milk in Canada and it comes in two flavors: vanilla and chocolate.
After tasting each flavors after two workouts, I can confirm that I recovered well but I didn't care at all for the taste. It almost tasted like water to me. It's a good thing because I don't like the super sweet drinks but it's a bad thing because the flavor could have been better anyway.
So trying Milk2Go didn't convinced me to switch from the protein powder that I take and love for now. I also prefer protein powder as you can control the exact amount you wish to consume and you can even cook with it.
However, in situations where I'm away from home and I need a protein shake after training (I love to try new gyms while traveling!), I would happily choose this over Muscle Milk or Gatorade for its ingredients and price. The suggested retail price for a bottle is between $1.99 and $2.49.
